I had a little tiny disappointment today.
You know when you get really excited for something and it doesn’t work out? You might be confident, in your heart of hearts, that this thing/opportunity/experience would be a PERFECT fit for you, but for whatever reason, you aren’t picked, or plans fall through, or someone outbids you on eBay. Disappointment is part of life, and life isn’t fair (says Mom). But as sons and daughters of the Creator of the universe, we can be confident in God’s perfect plan and provision.

I come back to this verse a lot, but Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God knows the plans He has for us, plans that will prosper us and give us hope and a future. In Romans 8:28, we are told that God works for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose. The Bible is filled to the brim with stories of humans with plans in pursuit of their ideal situations, but God had something bigger and better for them. It might have looked different than what they originally intended, but each brought glory to God in a way they’d never imagined.

These little setbacks, the times we didn’t make the cut when we gave it our best, they are promises that God is at work. Are you encouraged?
I am so excited for the future, and so much more at peace because of this one thing that began as a disappointment. How great is our God?

It’s been busy, and I’m turning into a belated blogger…oops.

  1. Mom visited and we ate SO MANY CUPCAKES. I have every intention of publishing a full post with pictures and everything, as well as a whole Sunday afternoon to do it in. Cross your fingers?
  2. I have pictures and stories from Anne’s visit as well…
  3. Kafferine is on her way to visit! She’s on Spring Break and she’s spending a few days here in Chicago. I am so blessed by Katherine and excited to see her! Eeee!
  4. Nate is in Wichita this weekend celebrating his mom’s birthday by bringing her the entire UIC men’s tennis team! Don’t worry, she loves the tennis team and is very excited they are playing WSU this weekend. If you’re in Wichita, you should check them out on Saturday! Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex at noon!

Please please please relish your weekend and absorb the sunshine. Spring is coming!
